Chechen Popular Soviet Folk: Movladi (2017) 320kbps
Ored Recordings recorded two artists performing Chechen
songs and dance melodies: Movladi Yusupov and Haron Bolotbiev during their 1
day expedition to Grozny in March of 2016. We prepare for every expedition
thoroughly, but that one was more like a random trip this time. Evgeny
Kharlamov, a founder of Balaliker, invited us to join him on his trip. He
wanted to get familiar with a Chechen plucked instrument Phandar and find
artists and handicraftsmen for collaboration, while we hoped that our past
impression of the region as a place where epic songs and the late Soviet
traditional music were ultimately forgotten would vanish.
